My mother being an avid animal mother, said we could keep her overnite with the agreement that she would need to be find her way back to her home the next morning. Needless to say, she stayed with us a very long time. With broken hearts we put her to sleep when I was 26.. I was gifted my first registered dog in 1983 and had my first Canadian Kennel Club registered litter in 1985. By 1989 I had the 4th top show Chow Chow in Canada and many successful champions. In 1993 my mother and I bought a large boarding center housing up to 85 dogs and 20 cats. This is where I met my first Portuguese water dog and fell in love. Such a happy, outgoing and robust breed I immediately decided that this breed definitely suited my lifestyle and personality. In 1996 I purchased my first Portuguese water dog "Phoebe" from Elaine Suter of Hunter Kennels. 2-years later I bred Phoebe to Beverley Jorgensens beautiful boy SunJoy's Master Plan "Moses" and we had a lovely singleton puppy Chiquita. The first female brown Champion PWD in Canada. My involvement in the dog community has been part of my entire adult life. I am a lifelong member of the Canadian Kennel Club, member of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America, the Portuguese Water Dog Club of Great Britain and the Portuguese Water Dog Club of Canada
Our family always had a dog and at age 7 our first pedigree dog came to us in the form aof a cocker spaniel, originally interested in the working side it was in 1980 that we ventured in to the show ring, we had some success with the cocker spaniels and in 1981 I was blessed with my very own dog, a papillon called Becky. In 1984 our family's first PWD came to join us at our home, Kara was the beginning of a passion for this breed.
In 2007 the Portuguese Water Dog received championship status and at Crufts that year we were proud breeders of the very first recipient of a Challenge Certificate in the breed, our first champion came in 2009 and to date we have bred/owned/handled more champions in PWD than any other exhibitor/breeder/owner
It has taken many years of dedication to produce some of the top winning PWD in the UK and in 2015 a friendship was born when Romeo came to stay with Byron and I.
Working with Glenda has helped us realise many of our dreams and our first MacDuff & Rarjo bred the first PWD to hold the GB/CAN/AM champion titles.
out collaboration has seen our dogs cross back and forth across the Atlantic winning many accolades for both MacDuff and Rarjo.

Since Hudson joined us in 2019 Byron has put his talent of trimming to good use and in 2020 Portia became the first Curly PWD to win BOB at Crufts, in 2025 Byron and Hudson were also given the honor of being crowned BOB at Crufts.
The whole team on a very rare occasion together for a photo.
